The northern coast of Campania is that stretch of shoreline in the centre of the Gulf of Gaeta, running from the border with Lazio to the town of Castel Volturno. Almost 42 km of coast, known as the Domitian Littoral, characterised by low, sandy shores surrounded by lush pine groves and Mediterranean scrubland vegetation. Despite some areas having suffered from illegal building in previous years, the Domitian Littoral remains among Italy’s most beautiful thanks to its fine golden sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and numerous beach facilities particularly suited to families.
One of the most famous stretches is Baia Domizia, also known as the “Gateway to the South” as it’s the first resort encountered coming from Lazio. With its beach types and available services, this bay is among families’ preferred destinations. The beach here has volcanic origins and the area sits within a natural zone where sand gradually gives way to pine forest.
