The stunning island of Ischia can only be reached by sea, either by hydrofoil, which takes around 50 minutes and carries passengers only, or by ferry, which is slower (approximately 70–90 minutes) but also transports cars and heavy vehicles. If you’re in Naples, remember that hydrofoils depart only from Molo Beverello and Mergellina, whilst ferries depart only from Calata Porta di Massa.
Boats to Ischia also leave from other locations such as Pozzuoli and the island of Procida, and during the summer season there are connections to Amalfi, Positano, Salerno, Sorrento and Capri. Ischia has three ports: Ischia Porto, Casamicciola Terme and Forio, and you can choose which port to arrive at based on your requirements and your chosen accommodation.
