Negombo Thermal Park

Among thermal pools, wellness trails, gardens and a private beach, Parco Termale Negombo is the perfect spot for days of sunshine and relaxation.

Ischia, a true gem amongst the Phlegraean Islands, is a natural jewel that captivates visitors with its breathtaking array of landscapes, enchanting beaches and a thermal tradition rooted in ancient times. This island of volcanic origin is celebrated for its mineral-rich waters that spring forth naturally at high temperatures and have been renowned since ancient Greek and Roman times, when they were first exploited for their healing and beneficial properties for body and spirit.

From the twentieth century onwards, the island’s thermal tradition has flourished, leading to the creation of unique and modern thermal complexes, known for their rejuvenating and therapeutic approach but also for combining relaxation with the charm of nature. Among Ischia’s thermal parks, the Negombo Thermal Park holds a special place: set in a spectacular setting, it represents a unique destination for those seeking a wellness retreat surrounded by lush nature and the island’s marvellous waters.

The Negombo Thermal Park is located in San Montano Bay near Lacco Ameno, one of Ischia’s most famous towns, renowned for its excellent beaches and facilities. This enchanting bay and thermal centre attract visitors from across Europe keen to rejuvenate themselves and enjoy a holiday devoted to wellness. Here, on the hillside sloping gently towards San Montano beach, the park has been built to take advantage of the natural gradient and hot spring sources.

History of Negombo Thermal Park

The Negombo Thermal Park is situated in the splendid San Montano Bay, nestled between Monte Vico and the Zaro promontory, in one of Ischia’s most striking corners, striking for its unspoilt beauty and natural charm. The park was created thanks to the vision of Duke Luigi Silvestro Camerini, a humanist, explorer and art collector who, in the 1940s, fell in love with this bay and decided to create a place dedicated to wellness and tranquillity, harnessing the island’s natural thermal springs.

Over the years, Negombo Park has continued to evolve, enriching its thermal offerings and integrating them with green spaces, also thanks to collaboration with important Italian architects and landscape designers such as Ermanno Casasco, who designed the gardens with abundant Mediterranean vegetation. Today this place not only reflects Ischia’s rich thermal heritage but also represents a perfect blend of nature and architecture, where natural elements are harmoniously integrated to create a rejuvenating and relaxing environment.

Thermal Pathways

The Negombo Thermal Park stands out for its wide variety of thermal pathways and wellness services including numerous pools fed by thermal water, hammams, grottoes and waterfalls. Negombo’s thermal activities are ideal not only for those wanting to rejuvenate themselves in waters rich in beneficial properties but also for those suffering from muscle aches or circulatory disorders. The 12 pools (one of which is covered) are complemented by hydromassage baths and sensory showers that offer a natural and invigorating massage thanks to the pressure of water rich in sodium chloride, which alleviates tension.

Among other services, the Kneipp pathway and Japanese labyrinth stand out, both featuring alternating hot and cold water pools that stimulate circulation and provide a sense of overall wellbeing. The park also offers relaxation areas shaded by ancient trees and Mediterranean gardens, with sun loungers and quiet zones where you can rest and enjoy the panorama. In addition to thermal areas, Negombo offers a private beach, an extensive wellness area, bars and restaurants serving local cuisine.
