Considered the true jewel of the Phlegraean Islands, Procida is a destination that captivates all its visitors with its authentic atmosphere and pristine surroundings. Less famous and less crowded than Capri and Ischia, Procida is regarded as a true masterpiece of nature that has yet to be touched by mass tourism. A stay on Procida should be experienced at the island’s unhurried, relaxed pace, which rewards visitors with truly spectacular views.

Procida is also worth visiting for its beautiful beaches washed by crystal-clear waters that offer days of tranquillity and relaxation. The island has only 16 km of coastline, so there aren’t many beaches, but they are considered among the finest in the entire region.

Whether you visit Procida for a day trip or decide to stay longer on the island, here’s a list of the best beaches where you can soak up the sun!

Chiaia Beach

1Spiaggia Chiaia, Via dei Bagni, 3, 80079 Procida NA, Italy

Set within its namesake bay, Chiaia beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Procida. This long stretch of sand is mostly free public beach with just two small beach clubs. The beach also hosts the small harbour of Corricella, where you’ll find an excellent restaurant serving traditional local cuisine.

Chiaia Beach can only be reached in two ways: on foot or by sea. On foot, you need to climb a staircase of 186 steps starting from Piazza Olmo, or you can take Via dei Bagni from Piazza San Giacomo and follow the descent with final steps.

Ciraccio Beach

2Spiaggia di Ciraccio, Lungomare Cristoforo Colombo, 80079 Procida NA, Italy

Located near the camping area, Ciraccio beach is considered the longest shoreline on the entire island. This stretch of soft sand is bathed by transparent, crystal-clear waters with gently sloping seabeds. The beach is easily accessible by car and scooter.

Sunshine is present throughout the day, while in the afternoon the mistral wind typically blows, creating a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere. This shoreline lies between Punta Serra and the headland of Santa Margherita Vecchia and features both a free public area and a well-equipped zone.

Chiaiolella Free Beach

3Spiaggia libera della Chiaiolella, Via Marina Chiaiolella, 80079 Procida NA, Italy

Separated from Ciraccio Beach by two large tufaceous rock formations, Chiaiolella is the most frequented beach as it sits on the western coast of Procida island, home to the tourist marina Marina Chiaiolella. Along the dock you’ll find numerous tourist facilities, hotels, bars and restaurants.

The shoreline features golden sand whilst the transparent, crystal-clear sea water is characterised by shallow beds—perfect for safe swimming. Thanks to its position, the beach enjoys sunshine throughout the day, whilst the presence of the mistral wind makes it possible to practise surfing. Finally, from this shoreline you can admire magnificent views of the small isle of Vivara.

Pozzo Vecchio Beach or Postman's Beach

4Spiaggia Cala del Pozzo Vecchio, Via Flavio Gioia, 80079 Procida NA, Italy

Also known as Postman’s Beach, Pozzo Vecchio is one of Procida’s most evocative beaches. Several scenes from the film “Il Postino” starring Massimo Troisi were shot here thanks to its beautiful natural setting.

This shoreline is characterised by dark sand that reflects the island’s volcanic origins and is largely free public beach. The turquoise sea contrasts strikingly with the black sand, creating a truly atmospheric environment.

Shuttles depart from Procida harbour to reach this shoreline, taking you to the cemetery where you need to take a staircase down to the beach. Alternatively, you can walk from the harbour to Pozzo Vecchio in about twenty minutes.

Silurenza Beach

5Spiaggia di Silurenza, Via Libertà, 80079 Procida NA, Italy

Close to Marina Grande harbour lies the beautiful Silurenza beach, a destination much appreciated by families with children. The shoreline is made up of soft golden sand and the seabed slopes gradually, a feature that allows safe swimming.

The beach is easily reached via Via Roma on foot or by car. This shoreline has a beach club offering all services, a bar-restaurant, and a free public beach area. On the beach there’s also a rock called “il cannone” from which you can dive.

Lingua Beach

6Spiaggia Lingua, Via Lingua, 80079 Procida NA, Italy

Lingua beach is considered one of the most unspoilt and pristine beaches on the island. The shoreline features a pebble beach whilst the sea has an intense blue colour. The beach connects to the small beach of Asino, which was described by Elsa Morante in her book “L’Isola di Arturo”.

This stretch of coastline is surrounded by high cliffs covered in lush vegetation that makes this location truly unique and atmospheric. This beach becomes a veritable paradise at sunset when it takes on an intense pink hue, offering breathtaking views.

Lighthouse Rocks

7Via del Faro, 80079 Procida NA, Italy

Carbonchio Rocks are a location on Procida characterised by truly deep seabeds and are therefore much frequented by diving enthusiasts and underwater fishing lovers. The Rocks can be a valid alternative for those who don’t enjoy sandy beaches, though they’re not easy to reach as you need to navigate a steep descent.

Pizzaco Point

8Punta di Pizzaco, 80079 Procida NA, Italy

Between Chiaia Bay and Carbonchio Bay lie Pizzaco Rocks, also much frequented by diving and underwater fishing enthusiasts. Reaching them is somewhat tricky as you need to navigate a steep descent from Via Raia, but the beauty of the landscape certainly rewards the effort.
