Naples Capodichino International Airport (IATA code: NAP), dedicated to aviator Ugo Niutta, is the largest airport in southern Italy and the fourth busiest national hub for passenger traffic after Rome-Fiumicino, Milan-Malpensa and Bergamo-Orio al Serio.
Its strategic location makes Naples airport a frequently used hub for travellers not only from Campania but also from neighbouring regions.
Naples airport is connected, thanks to several budget airlines, to many Italian cities as well as European and international destinations, with over 120 direct routes during the summer season. The airport comprises a single terminal hosting shops, including major brands, bars, restaurants, traveller services, car rental agencies and several car parks with a total of over 2,200 spaces.
From Naples airport you can easily reach not only the city centre but also other towns in Campania and southern Italy. The airport is located around 6 km from the city centre, 33 km from Caserta, 90 km from Benevento and 258 km from Bari.
Given its proximity to the city centre, reaching Naples city centre from the airport is straightforward: you can take a bus, taxi or hire a car.
Alibus is the bus line managed by ANM connecting the airport to Naples city centre, with stops at Central Station, the Port and Molo Beverello maritime terminal.

Journey time is approximately 20 minutes to Piazza Garibaldi and around 30-35 minutes to the port, depending on traffic.
The Capodichino Metro Line 1 station in Naples is under advanced construction and will connect the airport directly to the city centre. Opening is planned for 2027. Once inaugurated, the journey from the airport station to Piazza Garibaldi Central Station will take just 9 minutes, with intermediate stops at Centro Direzionale, Tribunale and Poggioreale.
The station has been designed by British firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners led by Richard Rogers, featuring a circular underground structure inspired by St Patrick’s Well in Orvieto, approximately 50 metres deep and equipped with 8 panoramic lifts. It will be the first direct metro-airport connection in southern Italy, completing the integrated port-airport-rail network on Line 1. There will also be extensive park-and-ride facilities for those arriving by car who wish to continue by metro to the city centre.
To reach the city centre quickly and conveniently, you can take a taxi from the Arrivals area. Naples operates fixed, predetermined tariffs set by the municipality (tariff schedule updated in 2024), including all supplements: night surcharge, holiday surcharge, luggage, pets and radio call. Always ask for the fixed tariff at the start of your journey.

A Shared Taxi service is also available, identifiable by the “TAXI Collettivo” sign on the windscreen. It connects the airport with Central Station and Molo Beverello at a cost of €6.00 per person (luggage included). Departure takes place within 15 minutes of the first three passengers arriving. The service is available in the “Pick-up” parking area approximately 100 metres from the Arrivals Exits.
